Courtenay Whalers Code of Conduct
The Courtenay Whalers hockey team was created by a keen group of women to promote hockey as a fun, safe team sport for women of all skill levels. The goals of this team are to have fun and to improve hockey skills.
All members of the Courtenay Whalers must follow these rules to stay in good standing:
1. Respect the game, play fairly and follow its rules and regulations.
2. Sportsmanship and fair play to teammates, coaches, opponents, and officials, are the forefront of the team’s philosophy and attitude. Shaking hands with opponents after competition is a routine procedure. Good sportsmanship should be demonstrated before, during and after games.
3. All players shall be courteous, mature, cooperative and respectful at all times. Individuals should conduct themselves with the knowledge that they, alone, are responsible for their own actions. Cooperate with your coach, teammates and opponents.
4. All players have a personal responsibility to properly care for any uniform or equipment items issued to them.
5. The use of alcohol or drugs is prohibited during competition.
6. The use of profane or improper language is not acceptable.
7. Both full-time and part-time players are required to let a team coordinator (or an appointed team member) know if they are unavailable for practice or game (One week notice is recommended).
8. Players should approach a team coordinator or team captain with respect to coaching or any other issues that may arise.
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, suspension or release from the team. Team coordinators reserve the right to take such actions.
