The Courtenay Whalers suffered another defeat in their last game. On Saturday December 5th the Whalers traveled to Parksville to play the Seagals. Although some veteran players were missing from the line up, the Whalers played hard and beat the Seagals net minder 4 times, keeping it a close game until the third period. Kayla Novelli (Aero Art Screen Printing) scored a hat trick and Allison Ritchie added the 4th goal. Sky Niskasari (Comox Valley Auto Electric), Lee McGeorge (Whales Tale Toys) and Jen Novelli earned the assists. Nicole Ivanov and “The bug” Stephens were a constant threat around the opposition’s net with their unreadable play. Without the Crow on the bench, La Bouche had to really pick up the slack to keep everyone focused. Rookie goaltender Jaimie Acorn was again outstanding in net, stopping shots continuously. Many players from the other team congratulated her at the end of the game with words such as “Well done, Luongo”! Lacey Mortensen was voted MVP of the game with her amazing play at each end of the rink. The Whalers’ next game is against Nanaimo Sunday December 20th at 6h45pm,  in arena 2 at the Sports Centre.
